Frost Protection Idea
I don’t remember where the idea came from, but I am currently working on creating a large felt mat made out of some inferior quality sheeps wool so that i can create a sort of ‘jacket’ for the bananas for overwintering. I also intend to utilise insulation around the outside of the jacket, in order to try and retain more heat, but this should ideally be positioned 1-2 inches above where the pseudostem comes into contact with the ground. This will allow for any mositure retained to accumulate towards the bottom of the wool covering the psuedostem to reduce any weight strain. I am considering these measures as I have some concerns regarding the recent flowering event and how well it is going to go over winter.
